IMTEX being the largest Manufacturing Technology Exhibition in South & Southeast Asia, it is a key enabler of Manufacturing growth in India. IMTMA (Indian Machine Tool Manufacturer’s Association) plays a crucial role in the growth & development of the metal working in the country.
This was the 21st edition of IMTEX along with concurrent shows of Tool Tech and Digital Manufacturing, organized by Indian Machine Tool Manufacturer’s Association (IMTMA). IMTEX 2025 hosted exhibitors from 23 different countries.
As Svart Technologies Co. Ltd., we participated at IMTEX in Hall 3B, D104. We have displayed Microboring Tools, Threading Inserts, Solid Carbide Thread Mills, Turning & Milling Inserts.
Since this is the first time, we participated at IMTEX, for Svart Technologies the response from the customers were very much considerable. Mostly the customers were excited to see the Microboring Tools & Thread Mills which was of key interested products for any of the customers. There were many tool manufacturers who were interested in the Solid Carbide Rods and also interestingly few of the customers enquired about our CNC Grinding Machine as well.

As India aims to become a US$ 1 trillion manufacturing market, Government initiatives like “Make in India” & “Production Linked Incentive (PLI)” schemes continue to play a pivotal role in creating an attractive destination for foreign investment. Competitiveness on the global stage requires more than policy support. Indian Manufacturers must prioritize technological advancements and supply chain optimization to enhance productivity & resilience.
The cutting tools industry, a critical enabler of modern manufacturing is undergoing a digital revolution with the integration of smart technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) & Artificial Intelligence (AI). The industry is achieving unprecedented levels of precision, efficiency and sustainability. Globally the adoption of IoT & AI in cutting tool optimization is projected to grow at a CAGR of 9.8% with the market value exceeding USD 1.2 billion by 2028.
Sustainable cutting tool manufacturing begins with the selection of eco-friendly materials to produce or develop cutting tools using recycled carbide reducing dependency on virgin materials.
Globally, recycled carbide usage accounts for approx. 20% of all cutting tool production. This is expected to rise by 35% by 2030. India also catching up with companies like Sandvik & Kennametal setting up facilities to reclaim & reuse tungsten carbide. These initiatives mot only reduce mining – related emissions but also cut costs by up to 30%.
Additive Manufacturing or 3D-Printing reduces raw materials usage by 40% compared to conventional methods.
Recycling Programs: Closing the loop Recycling programs are becoming central to sustainability in cutting tool manufacturing. Leading Global manufacturers have launched buy – back programs, allowing customers to return worn tools for recycling. This circular approach minimizes waste & recovers valuable materials like tungsten & cobalt for reuse.
Globally, the recycling rate for cutting tools is around 25% with Europe leading at 40%. In India, the recycling rate is lower, at 10-12%, but it is growing rapidly due to increased awareness & support from Government policies such as the “Extended Producer Responsibility” (EPR) framework.
Eco-friendly tools are no longer limited to sustainability. They are also enhancing performance. For instance, tools coated with Diamond Like Carbon (DLC) or other sustainable coatings reduce friction
& improve energy efficiency during machining. Such tools deliver a 20% reduction in power consumption while maintaining high precision, aligning sustainability with productivity goals.
The Global cutting tool industry is projected to reduce its carbon footprint by 25% by 2030 driven by sustainable innovations. In India, the market for eco-friendly cutting tools is expected to grow at a CAGR of 7% reflecting the country’s focus on green manufacturing & circular economies.
The emerging industries in India include Aerospace, 3C (Computers, Communications & Consumer Electronics) industries and Medical industries. Aerospace requires high – precision tools capable of meeting stringent quality standards while the 3C industries demand tools designed for ultra – fine machining and enhanced productivity. Meanwhile, the medical tools sector calls for innovation in machining solutions to cater to complex & biocompatible components.
What should be on our Focus in Indian Market?
